A psychic in Toronto Canada has been charged by police with ‘pretending to practice witchcraft’ after he charged a customer over $100,000 to remove an “evil spirit” from them.

According to investigators, the 37-year-old man advertised himself as a psychic and astrologer in the months of February and March.

He allegedly conned a man, aged 44, who sought the psychic’s services in March by making him believe that a sick family member was the victim of an evil spirit.

The victim believed him and in an effort to help the sick family member, he ended up paying the psychic, named Murall Muthyalu, a total of $101,000 to remove the evil spirit, according to Const. Jenniferjit Sidhu.

Police say Muthyalu, who was visiting Canada from India, is being charged with pretending to practice witchcraft, fraud over $5,000 and extortion.

Investigators state that Muthyalu also went by the name of Master Raghav and are asking anyone who has ever dealt with him to contact police immediately.
