Heyburn State Park

Despite the fact that she suffered from dementia, Jacque Grider insisted on taking a walk outside every single day. To make it safer and easier, she would always stick to the same route at Heyburn State Park.

“It was June 1st when she went for a walk and never came back,” says her stepson Buzz Grider. “It’s like aliens abducted her or something. There’s no clues.”

On the last day that she was seen, Jacque was wearing a T-shirt, shorts, and a hat. When she failed to come home that day, the authorities were called and a number of searchers from the Benewah County Sheriff’s Office and independent agencies searched the park for days in an attempt to locate her, but they all came up empty handed. Jacque just basically vanished.

“We’re just kind of at a loss,” says Buzz. “What can you do?”

This is where Carmen Murray comes in. Murray is an 82-year-old psychic detective from Spokane Valley.

Roberta “Bobbi” Doupe, a close family friend of the Griders, is the one who suggested Murray to the family.

“I was told that she never misses,” said Jacque’s husband, J.T Grider.

Buzz Grider added that so far Murray has a good track record.

Both the men decided it couldn’t hurt to work with the psychic and give her a shot at finding their beloved wife and stepmother.

“I saw her,” Murray told them on Tuesday. “She’s scared, she’s terribly, terribly afraid.”

Unfortunately though, Murray can’t decipher Jacque’s location, and is afraid that she may have passed away, even though there is no solid evidence of that.

Murray states that Jacque’s dementia makes it nearly impossible to “connect” with her and get any sort of useful information.

“When people don’t know where they are they can’t tell you anything,” she states.

Even though there is no evidence to support this theory- it is Murray’s belief that 69-year-old Jacque got confused and then abducted.

Jacque and her husband have two homes, one in California and the one here in Idaho, on the 100 block of Chatcolet Center Road. The Grider’s would spend several months out of the year at their Idaho home and Jacque would take her daily walk from there to the park without any issues.

Everyday on her walk she would walk on the Trail of the Couer D’Alenes Bridge to cross the lake and then come back home, it was a part of her day that took about an hour.

There were times when she would walk with a group of people, but she was alone on the day she disappeared.

The Grider’s have been coming to their Idaho home for over 20 years without incident.

“She knows everybody here and everybody knows her,” says her 79-year-old husband. “I didn’t worry about her.”

Murray has interviewed J.T several times in hopes of getting some new information that could help her. She even used some of Jacque’s personal belongings in an attempt to make a connection with her.

Doupe, the family friend, and Murray have retraced Grider’s walking route several times as well.

The psychic states that this has been her most difficult case ever.

“I don’t see anything else,” she says.

Fortunately, Murray is doing this of her own free will and is not seeking payment from the Griders.

“I’m going to find her,” she says. “I don’t care how long it takes.”

Jacque’s husband is not giving up searching for her either.

“I’m not leaving this place until I find her,” he said. “I won’t go to California. I don’t care if it’s two years.”
