Psychic Manatees Hugh And Buffett Predict Winner Of Super Bowl XL VIII
Buffett and Hugh are two manatees that are kept at the Aquarium at the Mote Marine Laboratory in Sarasota, Florida. They have made their picks for the winner of the big game, but just like people, each one chose a different team.
So how does this work, you may ask? Aquarium administrators set up two different pictures, one for each team, against the walls of the tank where the manatees reside and then observed which picture received the most attention from the sea mammals.
According to WTSP-TV, Buffett picked the Broncos and Hugh picked the Seahawks.
Even though Buffett and Hugh each have a 50/50 chance of being right, due to the law of odds, Kat Nicolaisen, a lab researcher at Mote Marine, has more faith in Buffett’s prediction for the Broncos.
The reason she would be willing to bet on his choice over Hugh’s is because, for the past six years Buffett has picked the winning team. Hugh, on the other hand, has only picked the right Super Bowl victor four out of six times, according to a report from Bradenton.com.
“He’s definitely on a roll,” said Nicolaisen to the HeraldTribune.com. “If he picks 10 years in a row, we’ll have to sign him up with SportsCenter or a Vegas bookie or something.”
As fun as all this is though, you would probably be better off not betting the house based off of a manatees Super Bowl prediction.
As Dumb As A Blog points out, manatees really don’t have that great of vision, so really they are only choosing between two blurry objects.
Although Buffett’s prediction accuracy is impressive, he still has a lot ahead of him in order to reach Paul the Psychic Octopus’ status! So far, Paul is the most famous animal sports oracle.
Paul rose to fame back in 2010, when he accurately predicted the result of all of Germany’s seven games in the 2010 World Cup. He also correctly predicted Spain’s triumph over the Netherlands in the final.
